BAR 557 2012: Roman Nantwich: A Salt-Making Settlement, the wood artifact illustrations were a labour of love from a few years ago while working at the University of Manchester Archaeological Unit. Areas of the site were fantastically preserved, particularly two wood lined tanks set in clay. I was lucky enough to be part of the excavation team in 2002 which uncovered the wooden and leather objects from the tanks. Memories of having claw hand from troweling through clay... :)
